POSITION SUMMARY
The customers of the Material Planner are the Automotive Manufacturers and other Tier 1 suppliers. The tasks performed in this position support these customers. Material Planners receive the customer forecasts and weekly releases. They verify the information for accuracy, and then issue monthly forecasts (six months) and oversee the issuance of the weekly Shipping Releases (12 weeks) to the Production affiliates. The Material Planner also controls Trial Orders, Packaging and is a cross functional position. The Material Planner position has interaction with Engineering, Program MGT, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Operations (Warehouse), and Transportation/Logistics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
?Control on-hand inventory levels of finished goods for shipment to customers.
?Create monthly forecasts and coordinate with Analyst to ensure weekly shipping releases are submitted to the affiliates by using MS Excel & JDE/F3 data.
?Acquire and verify volume & mix percent information for the Short Term Forecasts (working with other departments).
?Determine cost responsibility for air/expedite based on affiliate & customer agreements.
?Determine cost responsibility for obsolete material based on affiliate & customer agreements.
?Negotiate air freight and obsolescence responsibility with customer Production Control departments.
?Assist in the resolution of inventory discrepancies utilizing the Shipping Release information and the JDE/F3 system.
?Initiate air/expedite freight as needed (with management approval).
?Work with customers and affiliates to develop process, communication, and documentation improvements.
?Must answer all customer communications (phone, e-mail and fax).
?Analyze & Report affiliate on-time delivery.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Degree Requirements:4 Year Degree in Business or related field preferred. Equivalent experience acceptable.
