This position in the Energy and Sustainability Services (ESS) group in US Services organization will provide solutions engineering and business development for Demand-side (primary responsibility) and Supply side (secondary responsibility) Power Controls and Power Systems Integration, particularly related to microgrid and energy storage systems. Responsibilities for this position include conceptual and developmental engineering for systems used to monitor and control electrical power within a U.S. customer''s electrical distribution network.
Specific tasks may include consulting with customers to determine system operational requirements, responding to customer generated RFP, as well as, requests by business development. Response to these requests would require proposal development including system overview, scope of work, bill of material, engineering services, and project pricing. This individual will work closely with the sales teams, application engineering, and offer marketing/offer creation and most importantly the customer to insure that the solutions proposed meet the customer''s objectives and expectations.
General Description:
Vertical (Subject Matter Expert-SME) Solutions Sales Engineer responsible for solution/systems engineering and sales activities for emerging power control solutions and Microgrids.
Develop engineered solutions proposals and quotes that ensure attainment of sales revenue, profitability margin and customer satisfaction for Advanced Power Control and Microgrid. Develop conceptual sketch, develop and price the bill-of-materials, present the solution to the customer in tandem with a sales/business development lead or alone.
Develops new engineered solutions sales for complex power needs such as shore power, generator controls, distributed energy generation including renewables and SCADA systems. Interact with power systems engineers on topics such as protective relays or transmission and distribution substation monitoring and controls.
Conduct regular updates with geographically based Solutions Sales Engineers to build cross-functional subject matter expertise, understand training a development needs and provide insight for the improvement of sales and activity performance
Oversee timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all solution proposals
Create and present proposals, respond to RFP and RFQ solicitations, assist business development, front/back office and solution sales engineers in preparation and presentation of proposals.
Work as part of the larger organization/division to connect, continuously improve, drive profitability, efficiency, innovation and growth
Maintain contact with customer base to ensure customer satisfaction and understanding of our business and theirs resulting in higher customer net promoter scores.
Mentor peers and front office on Microgrid/ advanced power controls topics.
2-5 years experience in Sales and/or Marketing, 3-7 years experience in application engineering and 2-5 years experience in onsite project execution
Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics related to power measurement, control and automation. Particularly inverter based generation sources, energy storage, reciprocating generator control and protection components, grid tied and off-grid wind/solar renewable generation, and PLC auto-throwover configurations.
Experience with power system engineering/stability (load flow studies, transient stability analysis, frequency stability), protection coordination, distributed generation sizing and sequence of operations.
Willingness to travel as part of a nationwide solutions engineering team, up to 30%
Understand Schneider Electric solutions value propositions for Power SCADA and power quality monitoring, ADMS, Substation automation and segment knowledge for data centers, health care and university campuses.
Competent in LV and MV electrical power equipment, PLC controls, network communications, SCADA and database software, fuel cells, load management and intelligent fast load shedding and systems engineering.
BSEE required, MSEE preferred. P.E. license desirable.
